We know that learning languages 👩🎓 is good for us in many ways: it allows us to communicate with other people when we want to travel abroad, it helps us in our professional careers, it even improves our health by making our brain work faster and improving our memory (it is even said that it can help delay the effects of some diseases, such as Alzheimer). For this reason, in today’s blog we’re going to take a look at how languages don’t only change ourselves, but the world around us – making it a better place for everyone 🥰.
1. Better communication between people all over the world
As we said before, knowing how to speak other languages enables us to communicate with people from all over the world, which means global 🌍 communication is possible. You don’t even have to travel abroad to be able to try it out, you can simply go online and chat with people from other countries; and the beauty of having learnt another language is that it is possible for us to understand anyone from any part of the world.
The more languages we know, the better we’ll be able to communicate as well as connect with one another. If you don’t know which language to start with, you can try one of the most learnt and spoken languages in the world: English 🇬🇧. If you or anyone you know would like to start connecting with people from all around the world or improve your English (or Spanish) to be able to communicate better with them, don’t hesitate to contact us about our language courses!
2. Sharing cultures and understanding each other at a deeper level
This second reason is quite interconnected with the first one: being able to communicate with people from other countries also allows us to understand each other at a deeper level 🤗 as well as their cultures.
Being able to understand a different culture broadens our mind and helps us relate to other people. Thanks to languages, we have managed to create a globalised world, where we can learn and share our ways of living 🏠 with people on the other side of the world. Knowing other languages helps you look at the world from a different perspective, and understand that even though we are all completely different (we have different opinions, different religions, different passions, etc.), at the same time we are all the same 👯: just human beings.
3. Making friends all around the globe
Learning languages can also help us make friends all around the world. Being able to speak in a language known by other people lets us understand each other and become friends 🙋. As we said before, we can meet new people when we are traveling, and these people, though they might live far away from us, can become very good friends of ours.
At NikaTeacher, we have students from many different parts of the world 🗺 and being able to communicate (either in English or in Spanish) has enabled all of us to create our small community, and it’s beautiful to see how it keeps growing every day 😍. Languages have made us come together to create our own small family, enabling us to make friends inside our classrooms.
It’s now your turn! Do you have any other reason why learning languages can help change the world? Have you ever made any friends thanks to having learnt another language? Let us know what you think in the comments section.
